NZ Chefs Association
Kiwi Kids Can Cook Otago / Southland Regional Heats / Finals With supporting partner The Hits.
Tasty treats amid kitchen chaos are being served up as part of the NZ Chefs Association’s Kiwi Kids Can Cook competition. With support from The Hits, this new feature will be part of the inaugural Whitestone Cheese Fresh Food Show at The Great Kiwi Home & Living Show.
Kids from around Otago and Southland will be cooking up a storm as they compete for the final 6 places in the heats which will be happening at the show at Forsyth Barr Stadium on Saturday 3 November. Huey Blues from the NZ Chefs Association will choose 5 finalists and the 6th will be a ‘wild card’ entry to be chosen by popular breakfast show hosts, Callum and P from The Hits. “We can’t wait to see the creations our young southern chefs will bring to the table!” said Kate Boreham, NZME Dunedin. “Callum and P along with the whole team here at The Hits Dunedin are excited to be helping Kiwi Kids get cooking.”
Contestants must devise, create and present their favourite dish in just half an hour and they must ensure at least one New Zealand grown vegetable is included in their recipe. For the budding chefs an extra bonus will be that celebrity chef Simon Gault will be judging their delicious delights. Simon will also be featuring at the Whitestone Cheese Fresh Food Show.
Winners in both categories; 8 years & under and 9 – 11 years old, will be flown to Auckland to compete in the finals next year. For entry forms and more information, go to nzchefs.org.nz and go to the Competition tab. Entries close on 19 October.
The Great Kiwi Home & Living Show is now in its third year and will take place on 3 and 4 November at Forsyth Barr Stadium. Tickets purchased before the event are just $10 and available at www.ticketmaster.co.nz or any Ticketmaster outlet. Tickets purchased at the event will be $15 with children 17 and under free!
