Sleepout challenge

Get ready for another design challenge! After the success of last year’s Man Cave and She Shed auction, there’s going to be another fantastic contest to get excited about.

This year, The Hits’ own Callum and P will go head to head to decorate their very own sleepouts in the Great Kiwi Sleepout Design Competition! With thanks to Otago Polytechnic, PlaceMakers, The Hits, Aotea Electric, Bedpost, Design Windows and Redpaths for their support. The sleepouts will be worth over $10,000 each.

The Winners – The Great Kiwi Home and Living Show sleepout raffle winners were John Somerfield (0844) and Carol Johnston (0590).

The Sleepouts

Sleepouts will be 4.5m long by 2.4m wide and have an internal space 10m2 meaning the buildings do not require resource consent. They will be built out of timber, have ply linings to walls and ceiling, Coloursteel gutter and downpipes, an exterior made of shadowclad and vertical corrugated Coloursteel. Coloursteel roofing, have electrical outlets, be waterproof and fully insulated. The sleepouts will have beds, fittings, curtains and flooring.

Pick up your Saturday Otago Daily Times Weekend Mix Magazine from Saturday 7 October until Saturday 4 November to get updates and more details of how the challenge is progressing. Tune into The Hits breakfast show in October to hear Callum and P talk about their own interior design ideas.
